Mark Oberndorf is a rare painter whose eye sees art in ordinary places -- (42 St. Times Square Subway Station, the PepsiCola sign on the Queens side of the East River, across from Manhattan.) His specialty, however is vintage eateries, barber shops, book stores, and other places of commerce, many of which are being lost to "modernization" and "development." His understanding of the importance of "place" is unique, as is his ability to transform the ordinary into the sublime.
I am a contemporary realist painter from Bergen County, N.J. My mission is to document fast vanishing local structures in the county using oil paint on linen canvas. I also offer small (5" x 7") paintings done on prepared panels for sale on ebay. Visit my website for more information. WWW.MARKOBERNDORF.COM
